Is COM Surrogate A Virus?

COM Surrogate does not contain viruses. It is a Windows process that hosts Component Object Model objects (COM). It runs DLLs and other files that are related to different programs. You can confirm this by right-clicking on both instances and clicking Open File Location. They are unlikely to be malicious if they move to the file “dllhost.exe” in the System32 folder. A virus is a file that is not located in the System32 folder.

How To Remove COM Surrogate?

You should follow my removal instructions if the file is not located at dllhost.exe.

Step 1. Use Antivirus to Identify the COM Surrogate Virus

Once you have downloaded a security antivirus program, you will be able to run a complete disk scan to find the COM Surrogate virus. You should allow the scan to run until it is finished. Don’t let the virus get into your system. Even if you believe you have identified the source of the infection or where the suspicious file is located on your computer, it could still be replicated elsewhere.

An entire disk scan will find and quarantine all COM Surrogate viruses. It also checks for other malware such as rootkits, worms, spyware, and worms. The full disk scan can take anywhere from 1 to 4 hours. Please be patient while it examines every file and process.

Step 2. Remove all COM Surrogate Virus Infections and Delete Other Infected Files

After the disk scan has been completed, any files found to be compromised will be quarantined, and you will have the option of deleting them. Technical users can go through each file one by one and look for false positives before clicking Delete.
